Taveuni - the ' Garden Island of Fiji 'Taveuni is located in a group of islands in the northern part of Fiji. The flight takes you over the top end of Viti Levu, then over the Koro Sea where you may look down and view beautiful turquoise and azure reefs below. Often the flight will land in Savusavu in Vanua Levu to set down and pick up passengers before proceeding along the Somosomo Strait that separates Vanua Levu (Fiji's second largest island) with Taveuni (third largest). The small airport on Taveuni has a sealed runway edged with coconut palms and within minutes you will alight from the aircraft and met by your Resort's transfer vehicle. The closest accommodation options are right there in the Matei region. The furthest takes just over an hour. Either way you will arrive to a typical Fijian style welcome - by staff who will warmly and genuinely greet you both.
